Why a sheep?
This gift could help financially empower Ethiopian women living in poverty.
In Ethiopia, Christian Aid is supporting poor women to set up savings groups. And how do they generate the cash? Each member of the group is given a sheep, which provides wool to sell at market.
Instead of a piggy bank, here the smart money is put into sheep.
These smart women can then turn wool into money, and turn that money into a future for themselves and their communities.
This extra income from their savings group provides loans, so they can pay for things like medical care, and their children’s school fees.
Where does the money go?
